We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It
As CYDT family we find sound reason to celebrate as we move forward boldly with our work in the socially and economically marginalised province of Matabeleland South. CYDT was born out of the desire to contribute towards empowered and self-sufficient youths that is geared to realize their optimum potential.
To date, CYDT carries the history of responding to the challenges faced by young people especial at local governance level. The organization has gone a step further to introduce separate young women platforms in a bid to equip young women with life skills to defend their rights and cause for the implementation of gender responsive service delivery. The CYDT secretariat greatly appreciates the growth that comes with such partnerships. This appreciation comes as an acknowledgement that the support for these projects that are still ongoing. The said projects have paved way for more fruitful partnerships yielding tremendous impact has been made at community level. This will ultimately grow the brand to broader boundaries.
All Stakeholders Indaba
Two Stakeholder/district level Indabas were held in
Gwanda and Mangwe and recorded an attendance
of 205 stakeholders inclusive of rural councillors,
WADCOs, VIDCOS and the Youth
Local Governance Trainings
Driven by the axiom that any democratisation process that overlooks local governance issues
and focuses at the higher level of administration shoots above the targets pushed CYDT to
introduce an activity that sought to capacitate local leaders with local governance concepts and
also specify roles of elected councillors and that of traditional leaders in a way of addressing
conflict that has crippled community development
Youth Participation debate
CYDT convened Youth Participation Debates in Gwanda, Beitbridge and Bulilima districts as a
way of encouraging debate and dialogue on issues of concern among young people.
Youth Voice-up Community Platforms
The success story recorded during these engagements were the ability by youth to convince elected leaders to create spaces for youth leadership at community, ward and district level so as to cultivate institutionalization youth participation.
